Hi! I'm Suzanne.

By the age of 44, I had suffered two strokes, had asthma and, weighing over 300 pounds, was morbidly obese. I was literally at death’s door when I realized I had to take take charge, take back my life, and finally take control of my weight.

I had tried every diet out there, various weight-loss pills, exercise programs, weight-loss programs, the gym, swimming, a personal trainer, acupuncture, hypnosis... you name it, I tried it. Finally, I made the decision to take the leap and have gastric sleeve surgery.

WOW! How my life has changed! I am now happy, healthy, full of energy and focused on my future. My tutoring business, which I am PASSIONATE about, is thriving, I’m spending active time with my family, and I’m enjoying life! But I know how tough this journey is - and I continue to live it everyday.

I want to help others by sharing, step-by-step, how I prepared my body and mind for surgery, navigated the first-year post-surgery, and - three years on - all the things I've learned and how I maintain my health. I'd love for you to join me on this journey.

Reveal The You Within

What’s behind the Gastric-Girl logo?

The Gastric Girl logo is based on the Russian matryoshka nesting doll. The dolls contain multiple dolls of decreasing size placed one inside another. As you separate each layer, the doll becomes smaller and smaller. They were originally a symbol of motherhood, as well as of the unity of body, mind, and soul.

As a mother and gastric girl, I identify with the dolls and the transformation they represent. After my surgery, I felt like one of these dolls, gradually revealing the real me inside. As I shed the pounds and got smaller and smaller in size, I became more and more in touch with my body, mind, and soul.
